His methodology, known as “Moneyball,” demonstrated that identifying player traits that were undervalued by the competition would allow his organization to compete despite a much smaller budget. In the world of digital media, there is a great deal that we can learn from Billy’s approach of identifying value that our competition is missing. This presentation, “Media Moneyball,” aims to highlight how we can take Billy’s approach and apply it to ecommerce, and how this approach is more valuable than ever in a world where customer acquisition continues to become more expensive and competition is continuing to rise.

On Jan. 1, the landmark data privacy law went into effect, subjecting U.S. businesses to a sea change of privacy regulations. California residents will now have the ability to request information about what data businesses collect about them, request deletion, and opt-out of sale of data. During this session, Ezra Church of Morgan Lewis will discuss what the immediate implications are for eCommerce companies, how it will be enforced and what it means for the future of business and customer data.

Consumers expect an ever more seamless, intuitive and personal omnichannel experience—and there’s one emerging technology that is making that possible from the smallest of retailers to the Amazons and Walmarts: artificial intelligence. It is predicted in the next year 80% of all customer interactions will be handled by artificial intelligence (AI).
